Why does "Certificate Error: Navigation Blocked" appear when I am accessing CPanel using Internet Explorer 7/8?

Changes have been made to Internet Explorer to make it easier for users to see that they are on a secure site. Direct navigation to CPanel is blocked and such error occurs because a new security feature called Phishing Filter has been added to Internet Explorer 7/8 and has been implemented also to Mozilla Firefox 2/3. At this point, you have enabled Phishing Filter on Internet Explorer 7/8 that is why you are getting the error.

Phishing is a form of identity theft that occurs when a malicious Web site impersonates a legitimate one in order to acquire sensitive information such as passwords, account details, or credit card numbers. Phishing attacks usually come from email messages that attempt to lure the recipient into updating their personal information on fraudulent, but very real looking Web sites.

Here are some hoops you need to jump through to stop the warning page from appearing every time you go to CPanel:

  1. If you see the "Certificate Error: Navigation Blocked" page. Click on "Continue to this website (not recommended)".
  2. A red Address Bar and certificate warning will be presented.
  3. Click on the "Certificate Error" button to open the information window.
  4. Click on "View Certificates".
  5. Then click on "Install Certificate".
  6. Another warning will appear, click on "Yes", then you are done.
